Grassington is a thriving community where there is always something going on. The Town Hall at the top of the main street is the venue for regular events all year round from live music and theatre through to antique and collectors’ fairs, while the cobbled square at the heart of the village is often transformed into a farmer’s market or performance space. Attracting visitors from far and wide, these are a some of the highlights of the year:
The annual Dickensian Festival brings the true spirit of Christmas to the village in Victorian style. From hot chestnuts to traditional entertainment, a nativity procession with a real donkey and of course, Father Christmas, the festive atmosphere is magical. Our fabulous independent shops and galleries are a great opportunity to get your Christmas shopping done while you’re here.
Grassington 1940’s Weekend
Tucked Away House is the ideal base to experience the village winding back the clock to the 1940s. As well as dancing in the street, you might see Winston Churchill giving one of his famous speeches, catch a glimpse of a spy or a member of the resistance, a pilot, a naval officer or any of the armed forces. Why not dress up and join the fun? We promise no dried eggs or milk on our breakfast menu though!
Grassington Festival runs for two weeks in the summer and features an eclectic mix of world-class international performers of all genres as well as lively community and family events. It is dedicated to making arts experiences accessible for everyone to enjoy and celebrate the best of music, theatre, dance, comedy, talks, workshops, walks, visual arts and creative challenges.
